The Eye Doctor Is In

I don’t leave work until every chart is done for the day.

Hi! I’m Dr. Christensen. Can you tell I go the extra mile? It’s because I believe in giving my work 110% of what I’ve got, and I get back that and so much more in return.

What makes my profession worth it is seeing a child smile after putting on glasses for the first time or helping someone in pain from an eye injury. These quick fixes mean everything to our patients. And speaking of glasses…

They were all I wore growing up, but back in my day, they weren’t cool like they are now, so I was ecstatic to be fit with contact lenses when I was 13 years old, and it was the moment that I knew I wanted to be an optometrist. In one sitting, this eye doctor had not only improved my vision but had improved my confidence, and I wanted to be able to do that for others too. So that’s how my road to eye doctor began.

My Professional Bio

Dr. Christensen obtained her undergraduate degree in nutrition and dietetics because she knew that a background in integrative medicine would give her a baseline for understanding the body as a whole. And in 2008, she graduated from the Indiana University School of Optometry (IUSO) and began her work as an Independent Doctor of Optometry at Christensen Eye Care inside Sam’s Club Optical in Bloomington, IN. In 2015, she was awarded Sam’s Club’s Optometrist of the Year for innovations in eye care technology, including dry eye treatment.

Originally a Florida native, Dr. Christensen feels that it’s essential to bring a feeling of sunshine everywhere she goes, including her new Allure Eyecare office.

When I’m not working, you can usually find me working out, meditating, or listening to a good podcast. I’m an explorer and outdoor enthusiast at heart, and you can find me doing all the things — walking, running, biking, mini-marathons, paddle boarding, literally doing any sport. I also love spending quality time with my family — my teenage twin boys, husband, and mini golden doodle, Zoey.

Tessa has been helping patients look and feel their best for almost a decade. She does relaxing facials, chemical peels, derma plane, acne treatment, IPL photo facial to improve pigment/age spots, rosacea, red vessels, acne and more! Tessa is in the office at least 3 days a week. Her appointments fill up fast and she’s the real deal if you want to feel pampered and relaxed and leave with glowing skin.

Shaylee specializes in advanced, results-driven treatments to bring you real, visible changes on your skin health journey. More than anything, she wants to empower you with the confidence that comes from having healthy, glowing skin. She's dedicated to providing personalized care, working closely with you to understand your unique skin goals and help you reach them! Shaylee is currently booking every Friday and one Saturday a month.
