We offer many different lens options that are tailored to your prescription. These include polycarbonate, Trivex and high-index plastic materials. We will recommend a specific lens material based on your prescription to help you achieve your best vision.

We use a state-of-the-art measuring system called Optikam to help us achieve the most specific measurements and ensure your glasses are completely custom to your face design. Our technology precisely measures where your eyes are located in the lens. We are one of the first in Bloomington, IN to have this new technology.

We want you to have the best in:

Visual quality - high-index plastic tends to provide superior vision quality associated with prescriptions higher than +/-4.00D by providing less chromatic aberration and allowing for optimal optical clarity in colors and vision.

Weight and thickness - the stronger the prescription, the thicker and heavier the lens will be.

Shatter resistant - polycarbonate is often used specifically to prevent shattering. We do this with children’s glasses and for patients who work in certain industries.

Our team has devoted countless hours working to perfect a skill to provide the most precise, custom eyewear allowing the patients in our community and surrounding cities to see the best they can - by providing quality!

We do this with custom measuring using the newest in technology called Optikam. It provides several custom measurements using a state-of-the-art technology that takes into account your face shape, how the frame sits on your face and moves with your head and where your eyes line up when wearing the frame. Online orders are not able to do these measurements. These labs use standard measurements and attempt to “fill” the prescription however when reading your prescription where your eyes sit, the online glasses typically would fail our standards. This means you are not looking through the correct prescription for your eyes.

We follow a specific set of guidelines called ANSI standards and we check the accuracy of our glasses. If they don’t pass, the glasses fail inspection and are sent back to the lab to be remade.

Overall, you get what you pay for with online glasses, an inexpensive, lower quality product that is likely not accurate.

We do offer warranty programs with our products.

Anti-glare products are warrantied for 1 year, glasses frames are warrantied for 1-2 years depending on the frame and the type of breakage that occurred.

We recommend you save all pieces of the frame and call our office to see what can be done. Give us a call if you have issues with your lenses and we will try to find a way to help.

We work with a lab based in Indianapolis and as a special service, if you are not happy with your new glasses, we have the ability to do one remake within 90 days. We encourage you to give our office a call, if you are having issues. We ultimately want you to love your new glasses!

We adopted the American Optometry Associations guidelines which recommend an initial exam within the first year of life usually around 6mos to a year. Again, at age 3yo and then with starting Kindergarten closer to age 5yo. Also, if it’s recommended by their pediatrician, complaints of headaches, or if there are concerns with eye muscle issues, for example one eye turning in or out. We often want to dilate your child to get the best outcome. This will give us a more objective measurement with our tools and children tend to recover well and not be too bothered with dilation although getting the eye drop into both eyes can be a challenge at times. We try to be quick and efficient and help keep the child positive about their eye exam experience. As a mom of twin boys, they had so many eyes exams starting during infancy. It’s tough to keep them entertained at times but getting them use to the bright lights and being patient is such a reward to watch. They learn how to have their eyes examined and by the 2nd or 3rd time in the office, they’re pros.
